and thanks for suggesting this fix. As i'm not sure if the upstream github project is accepting this change (will create PRs later) i have done an own fork on github and included this fix (as well as various others):

Awesome work!!!

I'll give a hand in all that I can.

Hi:

I'm still a PortaMX lover, and with the new update to 2.0.16 with support for PHP 7.2, portaMX version 1.54 started to show some issues that I?ve been trying to solve:

Single pages not showing: https://www.portamx.com/smf-2-modifications-and-portamx/smf-2015-portamx-154-operator-not-supported-for-strings/msg21495/#msg21495

PHP each() function deprecated, a workaround:

In Sources/PortaMx/LoadData.php

Add at the end of the code:
Code Select
// Custom each() function
function PMX_Each(&$arr) {
    $key = key($arr);
    $result = ($key === null) ? false : [$key, current($arr), 'key' => $key, 'value' => current($arr)];
    next($arr);
    return $result;
}

And replace every each() function with the custom one...

Quote from: skyranger, 5 months agoHi guys, i am using portamx for long time and i had to set up a new board.

now i am using the new php 7.x version and the new mysqli version with a new ubuntu 18.x.
Before, i had the old php 5.x and well, new Versions brings new problems.

now i have the error "[] operator not supported for strings" if i try to call an article with index.php?art=name even with calling a page with index.php?spage=name.
So i was looking for an solution. I was searching for any declared array, without initialisation, but i didnt found anything.

May be someone could help me with this?
Sorry for necroposting, but I found a solution for this issue:

in the file: Sources/PortaMx/PortaMx.php (function [tt]pmx_MakeLinktree()[/tt], at line 333)

find:
Code Select
// build the linktree

$pmxforum = '';

And replace it by:
Code Select
// build the linktree

$pmxforum = array();

Now it's PHP 7.2 compatible.

Currently we have no converting plans ... sorry   :-\

Hi Fel

I am relocating my entire web community to a new Host and thought, Maybe now its time I switch to Your Forum Software.  Is there a way I can move to PortaMX-Forum without Loosing my Database?

Just looking for a How To document, and I don't see much instructions in English.

Is this even Possible?

Thanks,

Trev

You use the latest version of PortaMx ?
Look at our download area and get the latest version...

understood.
so you even tidnt told me a "new" way, then i have to assume, that all projects about portamx are dead.

How sad.
Well, then i have to go through all the files.
I wont give up portamx because its the best portal i ever used. and i wont lose my data (topics / threads) on my board so i must make portamx working again for me.

I tried ezportal and tinyportal but they are crap, they doesnt have the contents i need.

i had the hope, i could get any hints but if there is no way to get support, i have to go the hard way.
i am sure, i get it to work again, at least for the next 10 years. and if i am the only man where has portamx running... i will be glad for it.

As I say .. the old portal software is not compatible with php 7.
Also we do not support this old version ... sorry

really?
For now it works, without any problems, except the part for the articles and the sites.

Is there any solution? or an alternate way?
