Because a lot of spammers have entered the forum, I have locked @gmail.com for registrations.

How can you stop this ?

How can you exactly block gmail.com addresses ?
Vià .htaccess ?

Better use a stronger picture capture code verification.

I have no spam in my forums this way.

Regards, Stefan.

These aren't bots. They are human spammers. CAPTCHA has no effect on them.
Using Internet Explorer 6 on the internet is like urinating in a public swimming pool.
It's rude, there's no excuse for it, and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves.

I guess I am lucky then that I registered here before you blocked all gmail addresses as I use a gmail address for my email.  I know a LOT of people who do and they are not spammers.    I get no spammers on my forum.  I use Custom Profile Fields to make an extra field they need to fill out when registering.   Be creative with it -  make something they wouldnt think of.    Use  Recaptcha and/or the Stop Spammer mod.

Please take these as some suggestions to help out with the spam issue.   Blocking gmail addresses is going to lock out people who want to get support from you for Portamx and will not be able to.

I have removed the gmail.com blocking and add two additional questions on the registration page.
Also a additional field (Country) must filled on the registration process.
I hope that this stops the spammer...

Unfortunately it looks as if some of your questions are stopping genuine registrations.

Yeah .. I see that. But the short term is known I think, you can read that on many pages and posts.
Now i think on a other question..  ;)

umm   Fel?   Ive never even noticed that "short term" here.  People would have to read thru the forum a lot first to notice it someplace in order to know what to put.  Not everyone does that when coming straight to a support forum to register for help.    As you can see at simplemachines I made a guess myself as that was very unclear to me too when I checked the register link as a guest.

Try something obvious like "What is Fel's name?" Should be bot-proof.

If any have read this ? https://www.portamx.com/story_what-is-it/
You find follow text:
PortaMx have a own Administration Center (PAC), from where you can manage all settings, your blocks and additional languages.
Move the mouse on the (PAC) and you see: short term for PortaMx Administation Center  ;D

Naw.. when I came here initially it was to look for help with a small issue with the program after I installed it.
I havent read all thru most things here.     You know we put things on our forums that are informational and many dont ever read them (laughs)

Ild make sure to use something that is easy to figure out so you dont lose registrants.
My registration has a field that asks:   "what color is an orange"     A bot is not going to expect that.
It'll stop spambots as they don't expect it... of course those that are "real" people registering its abit different but we cannot always catch them all.

Something that feels obvious to you, since its your forum, and your product, may well not to someone new who has just downloaded and installed the mod and needing help.

Just thoughts and trying to be helpful...  please take it as that  ;)
