Using Internet Explorer 6 on the internet is like urinating in a public swimming pool.
It's rude, there's no excuse for it, and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves.

I made a new clean upload of the RC2 and tried to intall PMX (latest version as well) and I get an error in the installation.
All a clean install only the database data is the old one... any clues on this?
The error is on subs/display.php

I Think SMF has changed the Display.php in the Public RC2 Version...

I have attached the one from the package... (Edit: this is the actual one that not works!!! for fels diagnostic...)

@Fel: I think it would be better if you use scrambled filenames in you smf installation...  (this should be saver...)

You have read this?

QuoteIf you have a PortaMx installed, you can update the installed version with follow steps:
1.. backup the folder /editor_uploads
2.. uninstall PortaMx (and other mods)
3.. backup the database
4.. upgrade you forum to SMF 2.0 RC2 (use the large upgrade)
5.. install PortaMx v0.971
6.. restore the folder /editor_uploads

After successfully installation you have to update the settings and all block settings.

Hi ,
is there a difference between the SMF 2.0RC2 for
Charter members and the now public release of
SMF 2.0RC2 ?

So if there is a difference, must I again install it all ?

Cool

Yes there are quite a few differences and it is better to upgrade to the public release. This is usually the case with charter releases. They are "previews" and changes are made as bugs are discovered in more widespread testing.

SMF 2.0RC2 ?

Yes it is...
Quote
960 new entries in the changelog, which consist of:
    * Fixes for a significant number of bugs reported by Beta Testers, Charter members, and community members.
    * Hundreds of queries optimized for faster performance (new indexes, re-written queries, changes to column type, etc)
    * Canonical link support for better search engine indexing
    * New feature: ability to have different readmes in packages for different languages
    * New feature: ability to delete languages (oops! we forgot that earlier)
    * Linktrees have been added to the lower-areas of the forum and to the admin, moderation and profile sections.
    * Lighttpd support for Queryless urls
    * Improved support for right to left languages
    * OpenID is fixed
    * Extra fields for Advanced Profile fields (surround/enclose within other text, and choose placement as icon or signature).
    * Several theme improvements for better semantics and standards support.
    * Moved more JS out of templates
    * Wireless links to switch back to normal mode.

Also you have to fix a lot of css fo your own themes...

Hmm,
can one use the large upgrade package
to first install it over a charter member RC2 version
and then reinstall PortaMx v0.971 over that ?

Or how could I just upgrade a Charter Member Version SMF2.0RC2-PortaMX 0.970
version without completely deleting all files and reinstalling everything ?

Many thanks.

The simples way to upgrade to RC2 public:

1.. Go to Admin - packages - installed packages
2.. click to delete modlist
3.. install the SMF 2 RC2 large uprade (unpack the archive and copy all file with ftp to you server)
4.. open a browser, type in yoururl/upgrade.php
5.. after successful installation of SMF you can install PortaMx v0.971
6.. at least correct all pmx settings and the blocks

By the way, if anyone is interested RC2 now contains styling hooks in Subs.php that allow the use of curved corners on quotes. Code is quite simple, although it does require a couple of small images if you want it to work in all browsers.
