QuoteSimple Machines is proud to announce the immediate release of SMF 2.0 RC2 to Charter Members. This is the long awaited Second Release Candidate for 2.0 and is one of the last steps towards 2.0 going gold. Literally hundreds of bugs that were reported after the release of RC1 have been fixed and improvements have been made to security, stability, and performance.

As promised, 2.0 RC2 boasts our new Curve theme, which has been made the new default theme. The previous default theme has been renamed Core.

NOTE: This RC contains massive changes and is likely to break customised sites.
Mods and custom themes will probably need work before they will function properly.

If in doubt, upgrade a test site first. O0
Using Internet Explorer 6 on the internet is like urinating in a public swimming pool.
It's rude, there's no excuse for it, and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves.

Exist themes for smf2 rc1 don't work with RC2 !!

You make a update for this?

Of course everything will need to be updated and people will work on that. The main change required with themes is to move all css into css/index.css and change the link rel in the head of index.template.php. If you do that most of it will work, although there will still be some bugs with js and the admin drop menus.

Well I can do Midnight but the others aren't really mine and Bikken will probably want to do those himself. I'll do Midnight first though. I'm not touching Adagio as Bloc wants to do his own themes.

Really there is a lot to be said for just using Curve for a week or so. It looks good in standard form and should be fairly easy to customise.

If you have Midnight runnig, I can look at that to apply the changes to other themes  ;)

At the moment I have enough to do with all the changes for PortaMx and PmxBlog ...

Hey there is a minor break in Curve's footer when viewing threads as a guest. I've written a small mod that fixes it.
The problem will be permanently fixed in the public release but you can grab the mod from this post at smf.org:

I think before we get the themes working we need to get the Portal running on RC2 ::)

lol .. yes, mostly works now for RC2, so I have to make a lot of test.
If all running, I devlope a new release (PortaMx and PmxBlog).

I will not update this site with the RC2 .. I think, they have to many critical bug.
But I will install RC2 and PortaMx / PmxBlog on a demo site, so any can take a look.

Fel, if you are aware of any critical bugs please report them. RC2 is supposed to have less of them than RC1.2.

I'm test on this .. I not shure if all critical or not ..
First, I will create a test site for RC2, PortaMx / PmxBlog and also for RC2 themes test.
If that works without any problem, I will update the life forum.

On the test side update I see, that a lot of posts damaged after update .. that I have to recheck on a other forum.
