Got a new theme out if anyone likes dark themes. Midnight Sun v2.  8)
Using Internet Explorer 6 on the internet is like urinating in a public swimming pool.
It's rude, there's no excuse for it, and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves.

Well I am not one that likes dark themes but you have done a great job with this one. I think it will work great on my games site

A double well done on this one. This must be one of the first themes I have seen that if the menus wrap over to the next line it actually looks good and works

Well that's a fluke. ;D  I didn't test it for that. Drop menus FTW.

A good idea is a dropdown on the home button. Ist simple and easy.

I always have a look and see how my site looks on a 17' as not every one has the bigger monitors.  ;D

LOL I did not notice the drop menus until now, now I am even more impressed. How about a few colour variation on this one as in a light blue one

On point on the message index;
The last colum at right have not the correct background and border.
See attached image.

I've never seen that before. Which browser and OS did you take that with? Those images aren't even in a separate column. This is how it's supposed to look.

I design everything on a 1280x800 15" monitor because that's what I have and when doing things for my site I test them at 1024, which is why I'm a fan of drop menus.  ;)  SMF 2 has built in support for drop menus so it makes sense to use them. Everything I release is likely to have them.

All of the themes that were part of Outline Omega are going to be done as single themes for SMF 2. This is just the first one.

I actually don't like that. My preference is to keep the left end of the toolbar free of drop menus and have them all on the buttons to the right. This stops the drops flashing when scrolling to the refresh icon, etc. I also like to arrange the links so there is a smooth progression in the height of the drops. This looks much better when scrolling across the toolbar.

Uploaded. You can get it on the same page as the theme now.

That's the "quick moderation icons"  ;)

But I have fixed that as follow:
MessageIndex.template.php line 266 changed to
Code Select
<td class="windowbg4 moderation">';

css/forum.css line 240 changed to:
Code Select
#messageindex td.moderation
{
text-align: center;
padding: 0.5em;
width: 6%;
border-left: solid 2px #10373F;
}

Also there is a bug in the .code class.
This must change to;
Code Select
code {
color: #99A7AF;
background: #101010;
display: block;
/*font-family: "courier new", "times new roman", monospace;*/
font-size: 11px;
line-height: 1.4em;
/* Put a nice border around it. */
border: 2px solid #0F444F;
margin: 1px auto 1px auto;
padding: 3px 3px 3px 6px;
width: 98%;
/* Don't wrap its contents, and show scrollbars. */
white-space: nowrap;
overflow: auto;
/* Stop after about 24 lines, and just show a scrollbar. */
max-height: 24em;
}

Note the code WITHOUT a dot at front.

Now it's great as you see here  8)

Ok, thanks for that. I haven't played with the quick moderation function. There's a few things I'm still not aware of with SMF 2 as I haven't been using it on a live site, so I don't get much time with it. I was wondering what was wrong with the code border though.

Since I'll need to re-code this theme in a few weeks for RC1 I'll leave the theme zip as is and just make a note about this I think.

By the way, I did a Profile template for this theme too but left it out of the zip. If anyone wants it I've attached it to this post. I'll do the pm center as well a bit later.

Ok Fel, if you want to get fussy the logo is missing the right 50px. Should be 550 wide.

Also with the user block in the left panel the theme would look cleaner if the userarea was removed from the header.

Find:

Code Select
<div id="header">
<div id="userarea">';
if ($context['user']['is_logged'])
{
echo '
<b>', $txt['hello_member_ndt'], ' ', $context['user']['name'], '</b><br />';

// Only tell them about their messages if they can read their messages!
if ($context['allow_pm'])
echo $txt['msg_alert_you_have'], ' <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm">', $context['user']['messages'], ' ', $context['user']['messages'] != 1 ? $txt['msg_alert_messages'] : $txt['message_lowercase'], '</a>', $txt['newmessages4'], ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'], ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'] == 1 ? $txt['newmessages0'] : $txt['newmessages1'] , '.<br />';

echo '
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">',$txt['showunread2'],'</a>&nbsp;/
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unreadreplies">',$txt['showreplies2'],'</a>&nbsp;/
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=profile;sa=showPosts">',$txt['ownposts2'],'</a><br />
', $context['current_time'],'';

}
// Otherwise they're a guest - this time ask them to either register or login - lazy bums...
else
{
  echo sprintf($txt['welcome_forum']);
     echo '
   <br/>', $context['current_time'],'<br />';
}

echo '
</div>

Replace:

Code Select
<div id="header">';  echo '

What font do you use for your logo?

Would it be possible and acceptable to change the background? I would like to keep everything dark or eliminate the background all together. Not sure how to remove it and I imagine the color could be altered in a css file.

Also, where do you add to the drop downs if you need too?

Beautiful Theme; Our group loves dark themes...  :)

I have a darker version of this theme if you are interested I can send you the altered images and css files. You can view it at My Site The font colors, text areas etc can easily be modified in the css if you don't like them. PM me here if you are interested.

Do wotcha like. Standard terms of use for free SMF themes are these:

1/ Do not remove the theme author's copyright.

2/ If you modify the theme for use on your own site you can add "Modified by ................." to the copyright.

3/ If you wish to redistribute a modified version of the theme ask the author of the theme first.

4/ Have fun. ;)

Additions to the menu are done in Sources/Subs.php for all SMF 2 themes.

antechinus <3 I already asked you about this that is why I offered hehehe....

Speaking of which can I pack it as a mod and post it here after I tweak my modifications a lil'? Mostly for the learning experience as I never tried making a mod yet ;p and not to take anything away from the original it's tops, just for an alternative for those who like dark dark ;p

Thanks Ante. I played with it once already with a bit of Photoshop. Wow are my graphics ugly....  ;D So, uploaded the images and fresh css to start over. I really have to get good with images but that theme overall seems pretty easy to tweak. I will get a link for you to view just so you can give me an opinion. It is far from done but having fun for now...  ;)

I got side tracked with other things and never did make it into a mod. But by request here are the images. Just extract and upload em to your midnight sun image folder.
